Islamabad: A leader of Pakistan’s Awami National Party (ANP) was killed Monday along with his son and security guard while seven others were injured in a suicide attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

ANP leader Hanif Jadoon was going home after offering Eid prayers when a suicide bomber blew himself up near his car, Geo News quoted a police officer as saying.

The ANP, which rules Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is a junior partner in the federal coalition led by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). It also supports PPP-led governments in the Sindh and Balochistan provinces.

President Asif Ali Zardari has strongly condemned the suicide attack, saying the fact that it occurred on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Zuha reflected the callousness and barbarism of the terrorists. (IANS)
