SHILLONG: Several cases of cheating have come to fore in the police recruitment drives in the State.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, Lakador Syiem, Principal, Police Training School, Shillong-cum-Member Secretary, Central Recruitment Board (CRB), Meghalaya, said as many as four cases of cheating have been reported during the recruitment drive in Shillong while another case of fraud came from Goeragre in West Garo Hills.
Syiem lodged a complaint that during the process of conducting personal interview of the candidates by CRB on 2nd MLP Battalion premises, Goeragre, one Ruthindro Ch Sangma, who appeared for biometric verification, admitted that his brother Chingki Ch Marak had already run on his behalf in the PET held in the same place.
During the questioning, the accused told the Board that his brother looked identical and hence ran on his behalf. Syiem said the Board is taking the fingerprints and photograph of the candidates at every level to check fraud.
The first preliminary verification of a candidate is done at the PET when the fingerprints and photographs of the candidates are taken.
Again during the written exam, the finger print is taken and the written examination is video recorded, Syiem informed.
Even during the interview, candidates are required to give their finger prints and photographs.
The Board will now have another round of verification, and the selected candidates after being allotted a district, will be verified by the Commandant of the Battalion or the SP of the District.
