SHILLONG: Senior NCP leader Hadrian Lyngdoh along with some of his supporters has resigned from the party following differences with the party leaders.

“I have decided to leave the party following differences with the party leaders over the allocation of party ticket for Mawkyrwat constituency for the upcoming Assembly election,” Lyngdoh, who contested the last Assembly election on a NCP ticket, told reporters here on Tuesday.

However, in his resignation letter addressed to the State NCP president Dr WR Kharlukhi on Monday, Lyngdoh said he decided to leave the party “for personal reasons”.

It is learnt that Lyngdoh has been opposing candidature of Renik Lyngdoh Tongkhar, whom the party is contemplating to field from Mawkyrwat in the next Assembly election.

“How can we support Tongkhar, who enjoys the support of only 500 voters while Lyngdoh has the support of more than 4000 plus voters,” another NCP leader, who also put in papers, said on condition of anonymity.

It may be mentioned Lyngdoh secured third position in the last Assembly election.

Other leaders who left the NCP include Mawkyrwat Block president Drus Lyngdoh and JM Lyngdoh.
