Nagaland Addl CS stresses on Building bylaws

Kohima: Nagaland Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner Alemtemshi Jamir today emphasized the urgent need of implementation of strong and strict building bylaws in Kohima town, which has became unclean and hazardous.

Speaking as the Chief Guest in the Launching of Phase-1 of ” A Cleaner and Greener Kohima ” at the office of the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) here this morning, Mr Alemtemshi said, ” Cleanliness is a God’s creation. It is only we people make the place dirty. ”

He informed that the population of Kohima town has toucheD around one Lakh, but due to want of proper planning and lack of implementation of the Building bye-laws and to lack of sense of sanitation and hygiene in a section of people the places become dirty.

He said the traditional villages of the Nagas are also very clean than the towns, as cleanliness is like a tradition among the Nagas.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Executive Officer of KMC Elizabeth Ngully said that cleanliness is an economic advancement for sanitization towards the good health. She also appealed to the security forces stationed in and around Kohima town to join the cleanliness drive initiated by the KMC in collaboration of Global Open University of Nagaland (GOUN).

In his short speech Dr. Imotemsu Longkumer, the Director of GOUN stresses on the need of giving priority of the Sanitation Course by Nagaland Government Education Department as one of the basic course for a present and future healthy society.

The function was chaired by the Convener of the Advisory Board of KMC Y. Chuba Ao, who also assured the Chief Guest that the building bylaws would be strictly implementation by the next year. (UNI)
