State gets first livestock development centre in EKH

Shillong: Minister for Animal Husbandry and Veterinary HDR Lyngdoh on Monday inaugurated the Livestock Development Centre at Krang Veterinary Dispensary in East Khasi Hills.
Lyngdoh said the centre is the first of its kind in the state and more such units are in the pipeline. He also lauded the efforts of the District AH and Veterinary Officer and the Meghalaya Institute of Entrepreneur for their dedication.
“The Livestock Mission is an ambitious programme of the state government which will not only address the demand and supply gap in meat production but will to a great extent reduce rural to urban migration,” said Lyngdoh.
Stating that the government is concerned by the huge gap of demand and supply, the minister said the objective of the mission is also to ensure that the State become a surplus state in terms of meat production by having the right kind of investment.
The function was organised by the office of the District AH & Veterinary Officer, East Khasi Hills District in collaboration with Meghalaya Institute of Entrepreneur.
The inaugural function was also attended by Dr. B Rijal, Director, AH & Veterinary Department, B K Sohliya, OSD Meghalaya Institute of Entrepreneurship, Dr. K K Kharmihpen, Jt. Director, AH & Veterinary Department and L Stepwar, President, Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong, Krang village.
