SHILLONG: PWD (buildings) minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, maintained that she believed in the principle of talking and working and not act like a typical “neta”. “I don’t want to be a typical neta. I want to be seen as a person who will talk and work,” she said during an inaugural session of a seminar on Monday.
According to her, she believed in the practices of talking, taking action, risks, negotiating, explaining and appealing to the minds of the individual.
Taking a jibe at people who criticise her, she said, “I believe we need upfront political thought. You have a problem, tell about it, stop postponing decisions.”
She further stated that this has always been the reason why there have been a lot of controversies around her name.
The minister recalled the period when she had the responsibility to head the urban affairs department, and the conflicts that followed.
She informed that she had requested the CM (Mukul Sangma) to not allot her the urban affairs department during a reshuffle as elections were coming up in 2018.
“I have to protect, I have to try to win the next elections. I am too young to be retiring from politics,” she said.
“I told him (CM) that I don’t want the urban affairs department but give me another department,” she said.
