ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh CM Nabam Tuki on Friday exhorted the students to inculcate the spirit of competitiveness within them in every field of learning so as to achieve their goal.

Inaugurating the three-day Mahabhaskara Shastra Vigyan Pradarshani (science exhibition) at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV) here this morning, Tuki said that education should not be only about pass or fail but should be aimed at man making and knowledge gaining.

Lauding the efforts of Vivekananda Kendra in the state for rendering yeoman services in the field of education, the chief minister said that the non-profit organization, formed with inspiration from Swami Vivekananda, has been holding aloft the vision of man-making and nation building.

“The inter-VKV science exhibition with participants from 52 VKVs including from Assam and Nagaland, is a noble and essential initiative of the Kendra which will foster into long lasting friendship and bring our neighbourly states together,” Tuki said. He emphasised on creating awareness amongst the students on road safety measures, first-aid knowledge, disaster preparedness, drug addiction and HIV/AIDS.

The CM made a round of the exhibition put up by the students as well as few government departments. Referring to the Right to Education Act implemented by the Centre during 2009, Tuki advised the students not to misuse it. (PTI)
