SHILLONG: The Congress party has slammed the   Union Government over the  budget that was presented on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday,  Congress spokesperson,  Tom Vadakkan said that the budget had nothing for the North Eastern region  and party would highlight this in the forthcoming Assembly elections in the North Eastern states .

Castigating the budget   of the NDA Government, he said that the economy of the country was in shambles and people were disappointed with the budget   even as he added that the NDA Government instead of giving jobs to the youths has taken away their jobs by way of demonetization

On the announcement of the health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh for India’s poorest, Vadakkan alleged that the initiative would only benefit  insurance companies.

“This is a deficit sarkar as there was deficit of jobs and deficit of Governnance,” he  said  while adding that country is being taxed with different cess while taxes are not reducing and the budget is basically a thank you note to the corporates.

Taking a cue from the success of Congress in  Rajasthan Bye polls, he said that the result is a writing on the wall for the BJP that if they don’t mend their ways, there will be reactions all across the country.
