SHILLONG: Congress candidate from Nongkrem John F Kharshiing has alleged that NPP and a few regional parties have “nexus with the BJP”.
Kharshiing told media persons on Thursday that the fight in Nongkrem is between the Congress and the BJP since other political parties, including independent candidate is in alliance with the BJP party. He blamed HSPDP-PDF-UDP for being on the same side as BJP.
“I will expose everything about the links these parties have with the BJP because I have pictures and documents to prove this and people like Shylla, Basaiawmoit, Donkupar Roy, PN Syiem should stop denying the fact that they have links with the BJP.”
“I also have pictures and proof that the UDP is very much linked to the BJP and the fact that there is no UDP candidate in Nongkrem because it is in alliance with the HSPDP speaks volumes of this matter,” he said.
Kharshiing went on to allege that the Independent candidate in Nongkrem is being funded by the BJP.
He went on to add that other political parties deny their BJP links as people have not accepted the party in the state and said people in Nongkrem understood the political parties alleged nexus with the BJP.
Speaking about the mining issue, Kharshiing said the state government has passed a resolution twice in the assembly to amend the coal mine nationalisation act and this resolution was sent to the centre since 2015.
“I have all the proofs and documents and I am waiting for the open debate if any leaders from the BJP party dare to challenge me on this issue,” he added.
Commenting on the developmental issues in the constituency, he criticised the previous legislators, Lambor Malniang, HS Shylla and Ardent Basaiawmoit for ignoring the constituency. He said that the Smit PHC is congested and there are no Arts, Science and Commerce colleges in the constituency.
