SHILLONG: Several female students appearing for the SSLC examinations had a harrowing time on Day 1 thanks to the carelessness of those who listed the examination centres.
A large number of female students from different schools arrived at St Anthony’s High School in Laitumkhrah on Wednesday morning only to be told that the centre mentioned on the admit card issued by the board was wrong.
A concerned parent said the students were asked to check at Laitumkhrah Assamese HE School near Fire Brigade ground.
However, the girls took time to locate their centre that is behind Assam Oil pump near Motinagar area.
Eye witnesses said the students were exhausted and some of them were also weeping.
Some parents and teachers, who had rushed along with their wards, said they could not take taxis as accommodating all of them in one or two vehicles was impossible.
Many among the hassled students were from Osisa School, Brookside Adventist School and Kamala Nehru School.
Some parents said when St Anthony’s High School was officially printed on the admit card, the verbal instruction was to go to another centre.
