TURA: As part of the celebration of International Women’s Day, Tura Badminton Association in collaboration with the Tura Adventures Club and the 58 Bn BSF organised a blood donation camp under the theme ‘Donate Blood, Save Life’ on Thursday at the latter’s camp at Danakgre near Tura.

This is the second time that such a camp has been organised at the venue, the first one was organised in August last year. The camp was organised with the objective of creating awareness among the people especially, from rural areas, that donating blood does not pose any ill effects on one’s health.

According to Commandant of the 58 Bn BSF, N Ganguli, during Thursday’s camp, as many as 45 donors belonging to the 141 Bn BSF and 58 Bn BSF donated their blood. The blood donation was conducted by Doctors of the Blood Bank at the Tura Civil Hospital where it will be taken for use by patients.

“We have been organizing such camps for sometimes now as there is a constant demand for it. We collaborated with Tura blood bank and other stakeholders and as a token of appreciation for women’s sacrifices and contributions in the world, we decided to hold the camp on International Women’s Day,” the President of Tura Badminton Association, Bhuto R Marak said while lauding the 58 Bn BSF for being one of its partners.

Vice President of the Association, Armstrong A Sangma said that the association will be organizing many such camps in the future and urged one and all to join and participate in its mission.

“We are constantly making efforts to identify new venues and stakeholders for such camps. Giving blood is giving life…so please help us to help someone live,” Sangma said in his appeal to the people.
