SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma ensured that the state government is committed to protecting and preserving wildlife.
When asked on his comments on the letter written by Union minister for women and child development Maneka Gandhi to him highlighting rampant poaching in the state, Sangma said, “I did not get the opportunity to read the letter yet but it is a matter of concern.”
“The state government is committed to ensuring that wildlife is protected as it is one of the qualities of our state and we would like to preserve and protect it,” he said.
He added that after things get moving in the respective departments, he would meet officials concerned to figure out how to address the issue.
