EU Ambassador urges NE students to avail scholarships

GUWAHATI: The Ambassador of European Union to India, Tomasz Kozlowski has urged students, researchers and faculty members in the Northeast to avail scholarships and opportunities under EU-funded programmes for higher education and research.

“Under such a programme, Erasmus +, over 5,300 Indian students have received scholarships over the past several years, of which 87 from Northeast and 72 from Assam have so far benefitted. We would be delighted to see greater participation by students from the Northeast,” Kozlowski told media persons here on Tuesday.

The EU Ambassador is on a two-day visit to Assam.

Kozlowski interacted with students of Don Bosco University on the occasion of EU Day on Tuesday.  On Wednesday, he visited IIT-Guwahati and encouraged students to avail of scholarships under EU-funded programmes .

In the past three years alone, 1300 students from India have received full scholarships, 120 Indian universities have been involved in active exchange programmes while around 100 universities are engaged in joint master programmes or capacity-building projects.
