SHILLONG: Congress legislator Ampareen Lyngdoh has slammed Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong for his statement that “political hand” behind the recent unrest in Shillong cannot be ruled out and the Opposition’s duty is to create problems and see that the government is destabilised.
Terming Tynsong’s statement as irresponsible and unacceptable, Ampareen said when it comes to safety concerns it would be criminal for any political party to take advantage of the same.
Asked whether the deputy chief minister was politicising the issue, Ampareen said, “We are all in the business of politics and everyone wants to be one up over the other.
But it is important to remember that the interest, safety and well being of the citizens should be the top most priority of all political parties, she said, adding that it is unbecoming of a senior leader to utter such irresponsible statements.
She further said that the Opposition cannot be made the scapegoat by an incompetent government.
