TURA: Meghalaya Education Minister, Lakhmen Rymbui on Wednesday reviewed the implementation of various schemes in West Garo Hills (WGH) District at Circuit House in Tura. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh, ADC and Project Director, DRDA, Ashish M Sangma, Tura Municipal Board CEO, Sabrella B Marak, Block Development Officers from the district and other heads of departments.
During the review meeting Lakhmen Rymbui informed that the meeting is part of the innovative programme initiated by the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Sangma to review the schemes in the district once in every three months. He added that the purpose is to discuss how the schemes could be implemented properly within the stipulated time frame and by adhering to the guidelines of various line departments.
The minister said that it was important to know and understand the ground realities, progress and challenges and share ways and means to improve the implementation of the scheme and try to find a solution to the problems faced while implementing these schemes in the district.
While reviewing the schemes of MGNREGS, Rymbui directed the concerned authority to check anomalies with regard to the appointment of VEC Secretaries since it was found that some school teachers have been appointed as VEC Secretaries.
The problems of connectivity, banking and transfer of payment for job card holders amongst others were apprised to the minister by West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh. Ram Singh also informed the minister on various constraints faced by ASHA and Aganwadi Health Workers and requested that their basic amenities should be look into by disbursing their salaries regularly and also to provide a kind of allowance for touring the villages and disseminating necessary information to the people in rural areas.
The first day of the meeting saw the reviewing of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY)/ Prime Minister Awaas Yojana (PMAY), National Health Mission, National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP), Total Sanitation Campaign (TSC)/ Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP)/ Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY).
On the second day, National Social Assistance Programme (NASP), Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA), Mid Day Meal (MDM), Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) and Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) will be reviewed.
