One knocked down
On July 5 around 5 pm an unknown vehicle knocked down Kirisabat Nongrum (20) at Mawtiehjrong Kynshi in West Khasi Hills. The victim sustained injuries and was shifted to Tirot Sing Memorial Hospital, Mairang.
Drowned toddler’s body found
On July 4 circa 6.20 pm, a dead body of a baby girl (2 yrs 11 months) was recovered from Nartiang village in West Jaintia Hills . Later, it transpired that the cause of death of the baby was due to drowning.
Theft
On July 4 around 3.40 am, unknown miscreants stole a motorcycle (AS-19B-3871) belonging to Deaok K Marak from his residence at Lower Dilma Apal in NGH.
Hemant K Barik of Signal Det, ARC lodged a complaint that on July 4, miscreants stole 50 meters of cable from a site.
Lambha Mukhim lodged a complaint that on July 3 , unknown miscreants stole his motorcycle (ML-05G-8052) from his residence at Mawkasiang, Mawdiangdiang.
Trespassing
Thomlin Surong, Headman of Amlanai village in West Jaintia Hills lodged a complaint that on July 3 at about 10.30 am, three persons, Alwin Krey Tongper, George Mynsong and Khamtilang Myriad, trespassed into his house and threatened him with dire consequences.
Prisoner escapes, apprehended
On July 3 around 3 am, Sengran D Shira who was arrested in connection with a case , escaped from Civil Hospital Williamnagar but on July 4 around 12.30 pm, police apprehended him from Sampalgre, Williamnagar (EGH).
Three held with TV sets
Ferdy R Marak, Asst. Chief Organiser, GSU, Southern Zone lodged a complaint that on July 3, three persons viz., Salem Ansari (43), Chand Md. Ansari (26) and Jaan Md. Ansari (27) were detected while travelling in a Mahindra Scorpio (AS-12G-5644) driven by Dilip Kumar Baruah at Baghmara allegedly to sell TV sets. However, when demanded they could not produce the trading license and further the TV sets are suspected to be either stolen or duplicate. Later, they were handed over to the police at Baghmara PS.
Missing
Dil Bahadur (40) was reported missing from his residence at Rynjah, Shillong since July 1.
Body recovered
On July 1 around 8.30 am, the dead body of Sawen N Sangma [with neck injuries] was recovered from Menggotchigre A’ding village (WGH).
Man accused of witchcraft
Sengton Ch Sangma of Chellipara Nokat village (SWGH) lodged a complaint that on June 25, seven persons from viz., Walep Ch Sangma, Polseng Ch Marak, Rijon Ch Sangma, Sengkillon Sangma, Sengran Ch Sangma, Gongjing M Marak and Kreatson M Sangma summoned him to the house of a Nokma, where they accused him of practicing witchcraft, abused him, chased him out of the village and also threatened him with dire consequences, if he visited the village again or report the matter to the police.
