SHILLONG: KSU president Lambokstarwell Marngar on Tuesday urged the state government to ensure transparency in the job recruitment process in the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC).
Pointing to the recent petrol bomb attack at the MPSC office in the city, he said, “We suspect the recent petrol bomb attack to be a fallout of the unfair practices of the office.”
Decrying nepotism and favouritism in recruitment to government jobs, Marngar asked the state government to ensure recruitment on the basis of merit.
“We hear complaints that only those who are financially well-off or are close to ministers get jobs. Many have lost their confidence in the MPSC as there is backdoor recruitment,” he stated.
Marngar, meanwhile, warned of action if the state government did not tackle the issue of influx.
“If the state government is lax, the union will be forced to take action,” he warned.
