SHILLONG: Mehio Roy Suting, the chief advisor of North Shillong Constituency Committee of Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM), has requested the party’s central body to dissolve the unit in the constituency.
In a statement issued here, Suting said there were attempts to mislead people about the regional party and to prevent misinformation about the party, he suggested that the party be dissolved in the constituency and be strengthened.
Suting also said the committee has expressed unhappiness over the demand by a section of KHNAM members for the resignation of KHNAM president Pyndap Saibon.
Of late, KHNAM is facing tussle in the party over district council poll candidates in which KHNAM MLA from North Shillong and MDC Adelbert Nongrum decided to stand by Glenbert Khongwir as candidate from Mawkhar-Pynthorumkhrah and he is on the lookout for a suitable candidate for Jaiaw constituency.
Nongrum had alleged the selection of candidates was not done in all fairness.
The central body had agreed on the names of Thomas Passah and Rocky Hek as district council poll candidates from Jaiaw and Mawkhar-Pynthorumkhrah, respectively.
