6 die in Assam as high voltage transmission line snaps

GUWAHATI: Six persons were electrocuted and several others injured at Khatowal in Juria in Nagaon district of Assam on Friday morning when an 11000 volt electrical transmission line snapped and fell on a group of persons who were fishing in a pond.
The deceased were identified as Rafiqul Islam, Jabbar Ali, Moinul Islam, Habibur Rahman, Inamul Islam and Ashikul Islam, police informed. The injured were admitted to hospital.
Assam chief minister Sarbanada Sonowal has asked the state power minister Tapan Gogoi to rush to the accident site where the six persons were electrocuted.
Meanwhile, enraged at the incident, a group of people ransacked the residence of a power department employee and damaged a vehicle.
