Court monitors NEIGRIHMS road works

SHILLONG: The construction of roads leading to NEIGRIHMS is being monitored by the High Court of Meghalaya.
During the hearing on the matter, it was informed that as per the affidavit filed by the government in the section 1 of the road, pot hole repair works have been completed.
Regarding section 2 of the road, work order has already been issued to the contractor who is expected to complete the work by the end of December.
However, according to the Amicus Curiae, pot hole works have not been completed as according to him, he has visited the road and noticed that repair works have not been completed. The additional senior government advocate submitted that the authorities will impress upon the contractors to complete the works allotted to them within one month and in case they fail to do it, their work orders will be cancelled.
In case the contractors do not respond positively, the authorities will take immediate action and ensure that the work is completed well within the time fixed.
The court also examined the slow progress of work on Shillong-Dawki road and the road from Tura to Baghmara and Baghmara to Balphakram National Park.
The matter will be heard after 15 days.
