SHILLONG: On its third anniversary, the Village Defence Party (VDP) of Nongwar organised an awareness programme on women empowerment and alcohol & drug abuse on Saturday.
All the village authorities and party members were present in the programme including headman Kedion Deingdoh, VDP president W. Royne, M.F Wanswett, VDP Advisor and others.
) The SDPO of Sohra Civil Sud Division was the guest lecturer and Gina Phanbuh (Sr. Administrative Officer Northeast Network), Antoni Syiemiong (Director Manbha Foundation), Dr. Rika Lamar (Vice president Meghalaya State Commission for Women) and Officer incharge Sohar Police station were the resource persons.
The objective of the programme was to sensitise the youth of the village about women empowerment, addiction and early marriages.
