Opposition ready to corner MDA govt in special Assembly session

SHILLONG: Opposition Congress is all set to try corner the ruling MDA government over several issues be it prevailing law and order situation or misuse of government machinery during the one-day special session of  Meghalaya Assembly scheduled to be held on Wednesday.

Talking to media persons after the CLP meeting, Leader of Opposition, Mukul Sangma said that the Opposition members would raise many issues be it prevailing law and order situation, sense of insecurity and the misuse of government machinery   besides government facilitating  criminals to go scot free.

In addition, the Opposition will also raise the issue of several projects under NLCPR and NEC in the state which is not taking off despite the fact that necessary sanctions have been made simply because the  Union Government has asked the North Eastern states to keep those projects on hold.

Mukul Sangma said that the state was suffering since many of the projects were not taking   off even as  he added that the Opposition would  raise various contentious issue  of  illegal immigration and influx in the state

“It is sad to see that the government is not connected with the issue and they are not aware of the background,” he said while adding that  there is agitation in the minds of the people and government’s confusion is again giving space for the people to engage in demand for introduction of ILP in the state.
