JOWAI: The Jaintia Students’Union (JSU) has threatened to take the agitational path because of the Government’s adamant attitude towards their demands. The JSU had demanded that a blood bank be set up at Jowai Civil Hospital and also an MPSC Cell and MBoSE Cell in the district head-quarter. Leaders of the JSU in their meeting held on Thursday resolved to hold a general meeting with members from various circles and units on Saturday to finalize their course of action against the Government. Earlier, the JSU had issued a 15-day deadline to the Government which they said was simply ignored.

The JSU also demand the setting up of an MPSC cell in Jaintia Hills so that people need not spend time and money to come down to Shillong to submit their application forms.

Setting up of an MBoSE Cell in Jaintia Hills is anther demand made by the JSU for the students of the District. The JSU rued that most of the students from Jaintia Hills have to either go to Shillong or Tura for a mere five minutes work, thereby wasting their precious time and money.

Meanwhile on Saturday, the CM sent a letter to the leaders of the JSU requesting them not to hold any agitation as their demands have been seriously considered.,According to the JSU president, Elnathan Pale, the CM had stated that demands of the JSU would be fulfilled shortly.
