Farmers benefit from horticulture scheme

 NONGPOH: The local farmers of Ri-Bhoi District have greatly benefitted from the Horticulture Mission for North Eastern Region 2011-12 schemes being provided by the Horticulture Department, Nongpoh Division.

Through the scheme different vegetable seeds, organic manure and agricultural materials were distributed to the farmers which was handed over by local MLA of Nongpoh also the Chief Adviser to the State Government Dr. D.D Lapang, during the programme organized by the Horticulture Department at Nongpoh.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. D.D Lapang, lauded the efforts taken by the Horticulture Department in providing the beneficiaries with the valuable scheme.

He also said that the local people of the district must not justlook for a government job but they must be strong enough to work on their own so that they can stand on their feet and earn their livelihood.
