Guwahati: Aaranyak, a premier society for bio-diversity conservation in the North East India, has organised a nine-day-long exposure trip for conservation volunteers working for local NGOs in and around Manas Tiger Reserve (MTR).

The trip which is organised in collaboration with Forest Department of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) for members of local NGOS working for conservation of the MTR was flagged off by Kampa Borgayari, Deputy Chief of the BTC at Kokrajhar on Tuesday.

The exposure trip from March 6-14 also has the support of the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) for capacity building of 20 odd NGO workers participating in the programme. This is the first of the five such exposure trip to be organised by Aaranyak during the year 2012-13. The main aim of the exposure trip is to facilitate NGO workers firsthand experience on the role of community in protection of forests and ecotourism.
