SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills district police have made elaborate security arrangements for the upcoming KHADC elections scheduled to be held on February 27.
East Khasi Hills SP Claudia Lyngwa on Wednesday said that the police are always prepared for the elections. She said though that incidents can happen anywhere at any point of time, but the police are taking preventive action.
“We have the necessary manpower to handle the situation,” Lyngwa said.
Additional forces from other districts and battalions would be deployed since East Khasi Hills has the highest number of polling stations and a few of them are critical.
“We have a few critical polling stations and we will be more alert in those,” Lyngwa said.
Elections will be held for KHADC and JHADC on February 27 and counting of votes will take place on March 2.
