SHILLONG: Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma has downplayed the murmurs about dropping of BJP MLAs from the MDA saying there is no such demand from UDP to drop BJP from the coalition though such statements have been made by certain individuals.
Earlier UDP vice president Allantry Dkhar had claimed that UDP and other partners of the MDA were not comfortable working with BJP ever since the fiasco of Citizenship Amendment Bill rocked the Northeastern states.
The UDP leader had maintained that the BJP should be dropped from the alliance as UDP and other partners are not comfortable working with BJP.
The MDA coalition is currently supported by two BJP MLAs Sanbor Shullai and A L Hek who is also a Cabinet minister.
Talking to newsmen here on Thursday , Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that the NPP was clear that it would break it ties with NDA if the union Government went ahead with CAB but the Bill was not passed.
” We should also respect that the two BJP MLAs have supported our resolution again the CAB and they are against the Bill,” he said while adding that the chapter is closed and there، is no need to discuss it.
Responding to a query about the UDP leaders being uncomfortable with BJP, he said that the matter pertaining to UDP leaders being uncomfortable would be discussed in the meeting and issues would be sorted out.
