SHILLONG: The low connectivity in the BSNL’s broadband internet services in various areas of the state has been traced back to the extensive multiple damages on BSNL’s opitical fibers in the Cherrapunjee road, Nongstoin road and Tura-Bajengdoba road.

Issuing a press release here Saturday, officials of BSNL has stated that at present, they are relying on other stand by media, therefore congestions, slow data speed and poor quality of speech is being experienced while expressing concern over the inconvenience caused.

“The BSNL’s high bandwidth transmission systems are affected badly due to the frequent cutting of fibre cable during road widening and maintenance works by road authorities”, the statement stated adding that the cables laid long ago along many highways have become now unstable due to large scale disruption of cable.

In many stretches, the cable has gone very deep and below the tarred portions of road and it has ecome impossible to recover the cable, they added.
