70 per cent progress in city water supply scheme

SHILLONG: PHE Minister Samlin Malngiang on Thursday informed the Assembly that the Greater Shillong Water Supply Scheme phase-III has made an overall physical progress of 70 per cent.
Replying to a cut motion, he said the total amount sanctioned — on February 25, 2009 — for the scheme is Rs 193.49 crores while the amount released so far is Rs 175.37 crores.
He said the amount deducted by the central government is Rs 17.41 crores and the total expenditure till date is Rs 154.87 crores, leaving an amount of Rs 20.50 crores. He said the revised estimate for the project is Rs 281.50 crores.
The minister said the PHE has 21 divisions and 41 sub-centres adding that all divisions implement schemes. He said that only East Jaintia Hills has no PHE Division.
