SHILLONG: Senior UDP leader Bindo M Lanong has called for an end to the trend of ‘money for vote’ in the state as Meghalaya along with the rest of the country prepare for the Lok Sabha polls.

The state goes to polls on April 11 for the two seats of Shillong and Tura.

He said a few people voted for money and such practice must be eradicated.

Bindo also attacked the Congress over the long-vexed Meghalaya-Assam border dispute accusing the party of not solving it despite having its governments at the Centre, in the state and in Assam till just a few years back, ruing that people living in the border areas continue to suffer.

He also said that people should check the performance index, achievements and failures of Vincent Pala since he has been the MP for the past 10 years.

He also alleged that the previous Mukul Sangma government did not implement the Mines and Minerals Policy passed by the Cabinet in 2011 because they knew that they would not be able to indulge in corruption once it was implemented.
