Shillong: The 20th International Shillong Trade Fair (ISTF), on its fifth day, recorded high footfall with traders from various countries participating in the fair. The 20-year-old ISTF also created history by becoming the oldest expositions in Meghalaya. It is also known to have been working on promoting India’s Act East Policy by bridging the gap between Meghalaya and the rest of the world.
ITFAA, in the past, also carried out many social welfare activities in Shillong along with organising trade fairs. It donated ambulance, built toilet, organised health camp in association with reputed hospitals from Guwahati, distributed free computers among HSLC rank holders from Laitumkhrah, sent students to Thailand on education exchange programme, distributed free books among poor students, promoted Laitumkhrah football team, sponsored prizes in the local football tournament, supported Christmas celebrations at Laitumkhrah, etc.
(The on-going fair is organised by Industries and Trade Fair Association of Assam (ITFAA) with the support of government of Meghalaya and National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC), Government of India at Madan Lewrynghep from March 14-31.)
