United Nations: Civilians caught in crossfire are being killed and injured in the latest outbreak of fighting in Chin and Rakhine states of Myanmar, a UN spokesman said on Wednesday.
Humanitarian colleagues also reported the victims “are concerned by reported use of indiscriminate and heavy weapons in populated areas,” said Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. “The longer this continues, the more at risk these already fragile and in-need communities across the state become.”
At least 26,000 people across Rakhine and Chin states have been forced to flee their homes, Dujarric told reporters. (PTI)
