Body of guest house staff recovered

SHILLONG: A body of 45-year-old temporary employee of Central Excise/ Custom Guest House who was reported missing, was recovered from under the lift of the office building  here on Saturday.

Police said that there was no clue as of the cause of the death.The police have swung into the investigation after the body was recovered.

The body was first spotted by the sweeper who was called after the security guard complained of foul smell emanating from the lift and once the lift was moved up and the ground checked ,the body was found lying there in.

According to the brother of the deceased, Narayan Baruah, the deceased Samu Baruah was working as a temporary cook for over 15 years. Since, he did not return home on April 7 and his mobile phone found switched off, the family members after asking about his whereabouts for various sources, filed a missing report at Pasteur Beat House Polo.Meanwhile, Police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.
