SHILLONG: The probe report into the leak of question paper for Meghalaya Teachers’ Eligibility Test (MTET) has been submitted to the government.
The question paper was leaked on January 31 in West Garo Hills.
An official source said that Commissioner and Secretary MR Synrem submitted the report to the Chief Secretary.
In addition to the departmental inquiry, police had formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the criminal angle of the incident.
Sources said that the 600 – page probe report will be first examined by the education department.
Though the content of the report is not known, sources said that it had suggested several measures to prevent any paper leak in future. Principal Secretary in-charge education, D P Wahlang said the content of the report cannot be divulged since it will have to be first examined by the Minister and then the Chief Minister.
The education department had withheld the result of the test following the question paper leak as there was demand to conduct fresh examination.
The government had conducted the examination for recruitment of teachers in LP and UP schools and over 28,000 candidates from across the state appeared for the test.
Earlier, Rajabala MLA Azad Zaman had demanded a CBI probe into the matter after seven persons were arrested in connection with the incident.
