SHILLONG: The meeting of Workers’ Power of Meghalaya (WPM), an umbrella body of the workers in the state, was held in the city on Saturday with the objective of bringing together unions from across the state to discuss on the issues and grievances faced by them.
A total of 18 unions ranging from hawkers and street vendors to muster roll workers and health workers attended the programme and presented their reports on the unions’ work.
A number of resolutions were taken up including the decision to continue fighting for workers’ rights such as basic health care, education, public transport and equal pay for equal work.
