SHILLONG: Giving a major push to locally made products in the state, the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said the state government would soon roll out ‘Megha Mart’, an online platform to facilitate the sale and purchase of products sourced from local entrepreneurs.

Terming it as ‘Amazon for Made in Meghalaya products’, he said the online platform would give access to people all over the world to the locally-made products of the state.

Informing this at the launch of the MugaSilk Mission on Tuesday, he said the government had already prepared a database comprising 2000 enterprises and more than 10,000 products that will be available through the website.

With the idea for the online platform, he said the State government would also discuss on the procurement policy making it mandatory for government departments to get the products from “Megha Mart” to ensure that local entrepreneurs are given their due benefit.

This comes in the wake of the CM mooting for a massive branding exercise of the products made from Meghalaya.
