SHILLONG: Teachers from different categories have decided to meet Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui to apprise the legislators about the problems they had encountered during the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) examinations.
Teachers from government, government aided, Adhoc, SSA and private schools in the state who are appearing for the D.El.Ed online under the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) will meet the chief minister and seek his intervention in the matter.
The NIOS result showed that the candidates were Not Certified (NC) as they had failed to secured 45 per cent in Class XII even though most of them have completed their graduation or Master’s Degree.
Many of the candidates are also teachers who had entered the teaching profession long before the notification of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) on August 23, 2010 was released.
To address the situation teachers appearing for the D.El.Ed examinations attended a meeting held by the Meghalaya SSA School Association on Saturday. During the meeting, the teachers expressed concern about not geting back their original mark-sheet and certificate if they fail to sit for the class XII improvement examination as per the condition laid down by the NIOS.
The teachers also maintained that they do not want to appear for the improvement examinations conducted by the NIOS.
