SMU celebrates Varsity Fest

 SHILLONG: The Sikkim Manipal University celebrated the last day of their College Week at Soso Tham Auditorium on Thursday.

The main attraction of the show was the Mr. and Miss.SMU contest in which the students took active part. The theme of the event was Traditional Fusion.

The first round was a round of introduction in which the participants were judged for their creativity, confidence and poise. It was followed by the Question-Answer round in which they were judged on their wit, humour, spontaneity etc. Questions concerning the major issues of the day were asked to the contestants.

The top 8 got qualified for the final round called Beautiful Mind. The grounds in which they were judged were reasoning, clarity of thought and over all presentation.

While the results for the winners were being tabulated, the audience was entertained by a special dance performance. The director of SMU, Gagan Jain, said, “It is a wonderful event as the students get an opportunity to interact with each other as well as the other departments. It is an opportunity to come out with their talents both individually and as a team and explore their management skills”.The winners of the SMU contest were Saurav Borgohain and Swapna Moulick. The affair was one marked by great zeal and enthusiasm.
