Shillong: The state government has planned to come up with a ropeway at Umiam Lake.
The plan was conceived after Chief Minister Conrad Sangma along with others conducted an inspection of the Umiam Lake view point last week.
Apart from a ropeway, it has also planned to create new tourism infrastructure at the viewpoint which includes restaurants and stalls for vendors.
It may be mentioned that the chief minister called for urgent action to save Umiam Lake. He had also called for both short-term and long-term steps to clean up the lake.
