NONGSTOIN:The KSU and the JSU held a meeting at Aradonga onSaturday to discuss the 500 hrs road blockade called by them beginning from May 2nd. The meeting saw the participation of the locals of Aradonga and the headman.

The villagers attending the meeting said that they are facing some problems due to the blockade as some of them earn their livelihood by opening shops on the roadside that cater to the needs of the trucks that ply through the route. However, convinced by the students’ cause for the welfare of the area, the villagers decided to back their call. The Union leaders explained that by supporting them, the area would be benefitted. The Union openly declared that if the govt did not do anything about the roads even after the 500 hrs blockade the agitation would be taken up on a larger scale. The blockade entered its 5th day on Sunday. The road from Riangdo to Aradonga wears an abandoned look with trucks off-road.
