From Our Correspondent

NONGSTOIN: The KSU (Rambrai Circle)on Friday issued a memorandum to the Govt through the PWD Department of West Khasi Hills District. The Union through the memorandum urged the Govt to take immediate steps to improve the 1km by-pass at Rambrai through Speaking to this scribe, the Gen Secy of the Union (Rambrai Circle) P Nongshlong said that the by-pass has been in a pathetic condition for a very long time.

The condition of the road causes a lot of inconvenience to the people of the area. Due to the bad condition of the by-pass, the traffic usually diverts through the main market of Rambrai causing traffic congestion and even minor accidents.

Nongshlong also said that in an earlier meeting with the Executive Engineer(PWD) West Khasi Hills, the engineer assured that the by-pass would be repaired bywinter but the assurance remains to be fulfilled.

The issue of bad roads in Meghalaya could prove disastrous for the MUA Govt in the coming elections. With the elections just round the corner, sporadic spurts of demands for better road connectivity is in the air with the calling of bandhs and agitations.
