Security drill put in place in Tura

TURA: All important government buildings, particularly the office of the Deputy Commissioner in Tura, have been fitted with close circuit TVs (CCTVs) to keep an eye on people coming in and going out as part of a new security drill put in place by the government in the backdrop of threats to target Shillong by the GNLA outfit.
The CCTV surveillance monitors are already running smoothly in the public offices monitored closely by a team of police men round the clock.
Also, the district administration has already deputed several armed police personnel in plain clothes in market areas and different places which are frequented by people, it was informed.
A group of specially trained men known as ‘spotters’ are helping the plain clothes police officers to identify any person who could be a militant trying to move around the busy streets of Tura, revealed police sources.
Some of the spotters are believed to be former militants who gave themselves up to return to normal life.
