NONGPOH: A restaurant owner was murdered by unidentified miscreants at Khanapara on Saturday, while two bodies were recovered from the road side at Shangbangla village in Ri Bhoi district on Sunday.

In the first case, one Binit Kumar Singh, 32, owner of Blackberry Restaurant in Khanapara, was found murdered inside his restaurant on Saturday.

According to police, the victim was axed to death with a dao (machete) used for chopping meat. Police suspect the role of an absconding employee of the restaurant in the murder. The victim’s gold chain, mobile phone and some electronic gadgets and other goods were missing. The body was shifted to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for post mortem and police have registered a case.
