TURA: A’chik Baptist Dal’gipa Krima (ABDK) President KC Momin has emphasised the importance and urgency to standardise the A’chik orthography, and correctness in the use of the A’chik language in writing and speaking.
Momin was speaking as the chief guest at the annual general conference of the A’chik Literature Society (ALS) after inaugurating it here on Saturday.
He also released the A’chik Ku’rang magazine of the ALS and Matabengni Ku’ringa, a compilation of oral poetry by Venybirthseng Ch. Marak.
Maran Mikgitok, an anthology of poems edited by the same author, was released by Milton S. Sangma, former PVC of NEHU Tura Campus and ICFAI University, Tura.
The ALS also felicitated Naldarine M. Marak, Anindita D. Sangma, Lindsay Murray M. Sangma, Akaibel Arengh, Aldrin B. Marak, Lily Bell Ch. Marak and Weena Yancey M. Momin, all of whom were recently conferred Ph.D in different disciplines by various universities. A discussion was also held on the paper ‘A’chikrang maina Kangal ong’a?’, which was presented by Mirthnarch K. Marak (Rtd. MCS).
Members present during the programme also expressed the need to review the MBOSE textbooks, and those portions written in Garo for content, language and orthography.
