Rs 42 lakh looted in Shillong

 SHILLONG: In a daring case of broad daylight robbery, unknown miscreants looted a whopping amount of Rs 42 lakh from two staff of the Central Bank of India, Anjalee Branch in the city on Tuesday morning.

The incident took place on GS Road at around 10.30 am when two employees of the bank — Ritu Singh, clerk and Dipu Chandra Deka, helper — were proceeding towards the UBI Bank located in Police Bazar to deposit the money collected at the bank.

The unidentified miscreants threw chilli powder on the face of the two bank staffs before they decamped with the huge sum of money.

A case has been registered in this connection.

Police have started their investigation in the case but no arrests have been made so far.
