NONGPOH: The Seng Samla of Umden Nongtluh, in a bid to create awareness among the youths and children of the village, organised a one-day awareness programme on moral values, drug abuse and child marriage on Saturday.
Nongpoh legislator, Mayralborn Syiem attended the programme as the chief guest in the presence of the Thomas Lew Syiem, village headman, Lucia Malai, president of Seng Longkmie, Benedict Maiong, president of Seng Samla and other leaders besides several children and youths.
The programme was also attended by the resource persons who included Prof. G Kharumnuid, Value Education Department of St. Anthony’s College, Shillong, who spoke on moral values, PS Marwein, Circle Inspector of Nongpoh Police Station, who spoke on the affects of drugs and R Kharkongor CHO of Umden PHC who enlightened the gathering on the ill effects of child marriage.
Mayralborn Syiem, in his speech, lauded the leaders of Seng Samla Umden Nongtluh for taking this the initiative in organising this kind of programme that will shape and motivate the young children and youths of the region.
