Meghalaya Cong celebrates 135th Foundation Day

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) along with its Frontal Wings observed the 135th Foundation Day of the Indian National Congress (INC) at Congress Bhawan, Shillong on Saturday.
The programme started with the hoisting of Congress Flag by Charles Marngar, MDC of Mawhati, followed by short speech where he mentioned that it’s a privilege and honour to be a member of the INC which spear headed the fight for freedom from the British and also reminded the contributions of the Congress Party on building the Nation.
James Lyngdoh, working president of the MPCC also reminded all the party workers the Congress was never form as a political party but it was formed to fight against the suppression made by the British to the people and also recalled the words of Mahatma Gandhi that the best man to lead Free India was none other than Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Lyngdoh also asked the party members to inform people all the welfare schemes or acts which the Congress Party introduced from time to time for the benefits of the people and especially to the poor section of the society and villages. The party took a stand to fight against forces that follow the Divide and Rule policies and it’s a fight to ‘Save India and Save Constitution’.
