Shillong: The MDC of Mawthengkut FK Ryntathiang has expressed disappointment over the non-recognizance of power of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) by the financial institutions in the state.

“It is an insult to the district council as a whole to learn that the financial institutions would prefer a certificate from the deputy commissioner’s office rather than the district council to prove a tribal’s identity”, Ryntathiang said.

The Mawthengkut MDC has asked the council to write a letter to the financial issue to treat the council with utmost respect.

Reacting to this, EM Incharge of Finance NA War has stated that the council has already formulated the latter and it will be circulated to every bank in the city to recognise the documents issued by the KHADC.
