Employees asked not to leave station, keep mobile on
Shillong: The Chief Secretary, in an order issued on Sunday, directed that no government employee including officers, employees of line departments and contractual staff should leave their districts without the permission of their respective deputy commissioners.
Further, every government employee will have to keep their mobile phones in ‘switched on’ mode and should be available for any emergency requirement at all times. Non compliance of these instructions will be viewed seriously by the government, the order stated.

HSSLC exams postponed
TURA: Amidst fear of the spread of coronavirus in the state, the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) has postponed the remaining papers of the ongoing HSSLC examination.
According to MBoSE Controller of Examination, TR Laloo, the exams were postponed on the direction of the Education department.
The exams were scheduled for March 23, 24 and 25 and all the papers were postponed until further notice.
Laloo also informed that other examination related work like spot evaluation has also been postponed.

Ban on inter-state transport
SHILLONG: The Commissioner and Secretary, Transport department has informed that there will be no inter-state plying of buses, tourist taxis and maxi cabs and no inter-district plying of any public transport vehicle from March 23 to 31.
The Chief Secretary, in a separate order, also restricted movement of people into the state and persons entering the state with the sole purpose of travel will not be allowed to enter as all tourist spots have been closed.

Stamp for home-quarantine
TURA: The Commissioner and Secretary, Health and Family Welfare department has informed that health authorities will put a stamp stating ‘Proudly Under Home Isolation from …(Date)..’ with indelible ink on the left hand (back of palm) of those advised home-quarantine in order to eliminate the risk of community transmission of the virus.
Citizens of the state have been urged to extend cooperation and the process will begin with immediate effect.
