BJP lauds health workers’ contribution during crisis

SHILLONG: The state BJP unit has lauded the dedication of the health workers including doctors and nurses on the occasion of World Health Day Nurses as they strive to help others in this time of crisis when the entire world is battling against COVID-19.
BJP state president, Ernest Mawrie, in a statement, requested health workers to encourage the public to maintain social distancing even after the lockdown period is over.
The party also praised the traditional heads of various Dorbar Shnong and Seng Samla Shnong, who have selflessly worked and volunteered to help others as well as for supporting the government to reach the weaker section of the society with regard to implementation of various schemes sponsored by the Central government.
The BJP state unit further appreciated the role of the District Administration, Police and the Village Defence Party, who are also leaving no stone unturned to keep vigil on social distancing and other norms enforced during the lockdown.
“The BJP Meghalaya lauds the central government, especially the Ministry of Health and family Welfare, to support the frontline health workers in the state with personal protective equipment (PPE) and also provide additional support of equipment to tackle the contagion,” the party said.
With regard to central funds, the party urged the government to support the needy through the schemes declared by the Labour department.
The BJP also urged upon all the MLA’s to utilise Rs 25 lakh from their MLA fund without any bias.
